Got event fatigue?
Leave the Spiegel Tent behind and come up for a real holiday. Pack the car and a few mates and come and enjoy a relaxed 4-day food and wine event across the Flinders Ranges and Outback. Held the weekend before Easter, it’s a perfectly peaceful start to autumn without the Easter crowds.
Explore the landscapes, enjoy quality Southern Flinders wines and produce and be entertained against the backdrop of spectacular scenery, gorges, wildlife and wide- open spaces.
There’ll be events at all your favourite places, such as Wilpena Pound Resort Sunset Tour and Rawnsley Park’s Aussie Tea, as well as some places you may not know like Wirrabara Forest, Platters that Matter at the North Star Hotel in Melrose, Steamtown in Peterborough and Wild Lime Café and Gallery in Blinman.
For the really adventurous four-wheel drive up to Innamincka Hotel to explore the ongoing beauty of Lake Eyre in flood and relax with a fine grilled feast to the sounds of thousands of birds overhead, settling into river gums for the night.
The indulgent, black-tie Outback Ball fundraiser is being held in the RFDS hangar in Port Augusta, following huge success in 2011. Expect a magical evening with regional produce and a band to get you kicking up your heels with the locals for a good cause, well into the night.
For a hands-on harvest experience join Jackie O’Reilly in a day long Agrarian Experience collecting, cooking and sharing organic food in a long, lazy lunch in the enchanting Wirrabara Forest.
Full program will be outlined in a media release closer to the event. Details available online at www.tastesoftheoutback.com.au. Like us on Facebook to win prizes.
Tastes of the Outback 2012 is sponsored by the SA Tourism Commission, the regional tourism industry, 5AU and Southern Cross Television.
